Presentation

Candidates are invited to apply for an SNSF-funded Ph.D. position at the Department of Fundamental Neurosciences (DNF) at UNIL. The Ph.D. project aims to uncover how levels of the prodegenerative metabolite NMN are regulated in axons to control programmed axon degeneration. It is a multidisciplinary approach performed in the fruit fly Drosophila.


Job information

Expected starting date: Between October 2025 and January 2026.
Duration: 1 year, renewable for a maximum of 4 years.
Workplace: City of Lausanne, quartier UNIL-Bugnon, DNF.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work on a project using state-of-the-art genetics, neuronal morphology and function, behavior, metabolomics, and molecular biology. In addition, the candidate will have opportunities to embrace already established techniques in the lab and develop novel approaches.


Qualifications

  • Highly motivated, curious, and driven.
  • MSc in life science, preferably in neuroscience.
  • Understanding of genetics or metabolism.
  • Knowledge in cell biology and molecular biology.
  • Fluency in oral and written English.


Desired qualifications

Experience in animal model systems, imaging, or signaling.
